〈Karuizawa start〉“The Abandoned Railway Walk” – A journey across prefectural borders along the historic remains of the Usui Line from Karuizawa to Yokokawa Station.

This event is a walk through the historical remains of the Usui Line. It includes a lunch of kamameshi (rice cooked in a pot) with a view of the beautiful Megane-bashi Bridge. This 11.2 km walk passes through a total of 11 tunnels and crosses the prefectural border to Yokokawa Station.

**Except on the day of the walk, access to the Shinetsu Main Line (up line) is prohibited.

Clothing: Light hiking clothes.

Equipment: Light, helmet, gloves (please rent if you do not have one).

9:00 Meet near the cab stand at the north exit of Karuizawa Station.
9:30 Opening Talk
9:50 Walk to the tunnel entrance
10:00 Start walking along the Shinetsu Line (up line)
12:30 Arrive at Kumonodaira Staiton (50 min lunch break)
13:20 Start walking along the Shinetsu Line (up line)
15:20 Arrive at Yuno no yu (local hot spring) , event ends
16:15 Arrive at Yokokawa Station goal, walk around
